Dinner menu includes roast beef

Traverse City -- Long Lake Friends Church invites the community to a roast beef dinner today.

The meal will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, 4712 Church Road. Prices are $7 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 5 and older, and free for children ages 4 and younger.

Final luncheon of Lenten season

Traverse City -- Pastor Marshall and Mary Collins of Northport will close the Church Women United Lenten Luncheon Ministry.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at The Presbyterian Church of Traverse City, 701 Westminster. Special music at noon will be followed by a Lenten message from 12:30 to 1 p.m. A $3 donation is requested and will benefit local missions. Call Vera Sparks, 938-1387.

Divorce recovery seminar and support

Traverse City -- First Congregational Church will offer a 13-week session of DivorceCare.

The video seminar series and support group is for people who are separated or divorced. Videos are combined with group discussion of the materials presented each week.

The group will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. starting Thursday at the church, 6105 Center Road. The series will continue on Thursdays through June 17. Each unit is self-contained and participants may join anytime.

A $1 donation per week is requested for program expenses. Child care is available when planned in advance. Donations welcome.

Chili supper benefits Habitat for Humanity

Thompsonville -- A chili supper hosted by the Thompsonville Congregational Church will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Benzie County.

The meal will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. March 27 at the church, Lincoln at First Street. A silent auction also will be held. Donations for the meal will help Habitat for Humanity complete two homes in Benzie County during 2010.

Community invited to gospel sing

Kalkaska -- The March 28 Evening Gospel Sing will spotlight Ernie Mindel & Friends.

The jam and sing-along will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Kalkaska Senior Center, 303 S. Coral St. Children are welcome and attendees may bring a snack to share.

Palm Sunday signals start of Holy Week

Traverse City -- The liturgy for Palm Sunday, March 28, will carry the congregation at Grace Episcopal Church into Holy Week.

Services at 8 and 10 a.m. will start with the re-enactment of Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The main service at 10 a.m. will start outside, weather permitting, with the Liturgy of the Palms and a joyful procession into the sanctuary, where the reading of the Passion will form the heart of the service. Nursery care will be available.

Church will host Easter Egg Hunt

Traverse City -- Everyone is invited to an Easter Egg Hunt on Palm Sunday, March 28, at Traverse Bay United Methodist Church, 1200 Ramsdell Road

The event will follow the 11 a.m. service and includes a light lunch. Call 946-5323.

New Worship Center at Windward Church

Traverse City -- Windward Church will celebrate the grand opening of its new Worship Center on Easter Sunday, April 4.

The Worship Center is located at 770 U.S. 31 South, in the former TC Flooring building across from VanDrie Home Furnishings. The service will start at 10 a.m. For more information, call 421-1403 or visit www.windwardchurch.org.

Register online for women's retreat

Mackinac Island -- For the first time in Win-Some Women history, registration for spring retreats is available online only.

Day-and-a-half Christian retreats will be held May 18-19, May 19-20, and May 20-21 at the Grand Hotel. "God's Flower Garden" is the theme. The all-inclusive rate is $178 per person with two or three people per room or $158 with four people per room. For details or to register, visit www.win-somewomen.org.

New Hope will stage musical drama

Williamsburg -- New Hope Community Church will give three performances of "The Promise."

The musical drama tells the story of Christ from his birth to resurrection. It will be presented at 7:30 p.m. April 1 through 3 at the church, 5169 Bethesda Ct. The production is not recommended for young children and child care will be available for children from birth through age 5.

Vendors sought for spring craft show

Traverse City -- Crafters are invited to sign up for space at a spring craft show at First Christian Church.

The show will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 24 at the church, 3686 S. Airport Road. The vendor fee is $35 for a 10- by 10-foot space. Tables are available for an additional $5. Interested crafters should contact Vera Sparks, 938-1387.
