Public invited to gospel sing
Kalkaska -- The public is invited to a Gospel Sing at the Kalkaska Senior Center.

Rabbi Lewis will discuss his book
Traverse City -- Rabbi Albert Lewis will discuss his writing career, influences on his life and sign copies of his book "Soul Sounds: Reflections on Life" on Sunday at Horizon Books.
Rabbi Lewis writes extensively for and has consulted with Fortune 500 corporations and religious bodies on how to address the needs and issues of a growing middle-aged and aging population. He was appointed to the Governor's Commission on Aging and is the founding president of Hospice of Grand Rapids and the western Michigan chapter of the Michigan Society for Gerontology. Dr. Lewis is rabbi of Congregation Beth El in Traverse City.
Dr. Lewis' book is a juried selection of his weekly columns from the Grand Rapids Press. Each essay is followed by two questions for reflection designed to help the reader explore his own life journey.

Clothing donations sought for give-away
Grawn -- Grawn United Methodist Church is asking for donations in preparation for a clothing give-away.
Clothing donations will be accepted from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to noon on Friday at the church, 1260 W. Silver Lake Road, where the clothing will be given away from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 31. Call 943-8353 for details.
Everyone invited to Harvest Fest
Traverse City -- Everyone is invited to Lighthouse Church of God's ninth annual Harvest Fest.

Trick or Treat Rest Stop in Kingsley
KInglsey -- Families are invited to take a break from trick or treating at Kingsley United Methodist Church.
The church will offer a Trick or Treat Rest Stop from 5 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31 with free coffee for parents and free hot chocolate for children and a "famous" Mr. Kaule popcorn ball for everyone's goodie bag.
Restrooms also will be available. The church is located at 113 E. Blair St.
Church hosts dinner and country store
Empire -- Swiss steak tops the menu for a dinner at Empire United Methodist Church.
The meal will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 at the church, 10050 Michigan St.
The cost is $9 per person or $18 for parents and children.
There also will be a Country Store selling baked goods, pies and treasures.
