Singles for Christ holds potluck event
PETOSKEY -- Singles for Christ of Zion Lutheran Church will conduct a potluck picnic at 6 p.m. today at Depot Beach in Charlevoix. The event is for area singles ages 40 and over. Tuesday concert at Church in the Hills
Bellaire -- "The Folk Side of Blues," a music concert featuring Jonah Powell on guitar and vocals and Michael Dorman on bass, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at Church in the Hills. Speaker discusses Iran experiences
TRAVERSE CITY -- The "If Americans Only Knew" speaker series continues with the program "Update on Iran, Voices from Tehran" taking place at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Friends Meeting House, Fifth and Oak streets.
The program will be presented by Cathy Lester, a retired educator from Grayling who visited Iran this summer.
Lester lived and taught in Iran at the time of the revolution and has kept in contact with Iranian friends. The event is sponsored by MidEast: JustPeace, Traverse for Peace and Justice, Campaign Against Torture and Neahtawanta Center.

Jungian expert at Potter's House
TRAVERSE CITY -- The Potter's House will conduct it's third annual Jungian Psychology seminar series with Jungian analyst The Rev. Dr. Paul Sanderson. The evening discussion "Re-visioning Christianity: Carl Jung's Contribution to the Psychology of Religion" will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 23 at Grace Episcopal Church, 341 Washington St. Suggested donation is $10.
A special discussion will take place at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at Grace Episcopal.
Dr. Sanderson, a Jungian analyst at Boston's Jung Institute, teaches psychology at Assumption College in Worcester, and pastors the Southborough Community Church. Dr. Sanderson will share how insights from Carl Jung's psychology are helpful in recasting our understanding of religion, in particular Christianity.

CYAN group offers events for singles
TRAVERSE CITY -- The Christian Young Adult Network is a group of young adult Catholics between the ages of 18 and 35 living in the Grand Traverse area who gather to pray, learn more about their faith, meet others, serve the community and participate in social events. They meet every other Saturday at 6 p.m. at Immaculate Concep-tion Church.

Pig roast to benefit Grawn resident
GRAWN -- Members of Grawn United Methodist Church will offer their 22nd annual Pig Roast and Silent Auction from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 23 at the church, 1260 W. Silver Lake Road S.
In exchange for the meal, the church is ask-ing for donations to help defray medical expenses for Everett Fournier, of Grawn, who is receiv-ing hospice care due to advanced emphysema and Chronic Obstructive Pul-monary Disease.
