Support group for the grieving

TRAVERSE CITY -- A grief share recovery/support group will meet starting Monday at Bay Pointe Community Church.

Meetings will be held from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. on 12 Mondays at the church, 6880 Secor Road. Call 922-9882 for more information.

Meetings on foster care and adoption

TRAVERSE CITY -- Bethany Christian Services will hold free adoption and foster care information meetings on Thursday, Feb. 11.

An intercountry information meeting will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by a state adoption/foster care information meeting from 1 to 4 p.m. Both meetings will be at Bethany's Traverse City location, 1055 Carriage Hill Dr. Adoption and foster care specialists will discuss options with prospective families and guest families will share their adoption and foster care experiences.

Lenten luncheon series will begin

TRAVERSE CITY -- Church Women United will host a series of community luncheons again this Lenten season.

The organization began the Lenten Luncheon ministry in 1970 and continues the non-denominational program each year with the goal of sharing God's message of hope and love with the community.

The luncheons will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays at The Presbyterian Church of Traverse City, 701 Westminster. In addition to the meal, area musicians and pastors share special music and a Lenten message each week.

The series will start on Feb. 18 with music by Jim Seidel and the Lenten message by the Rev. David Ramage, both of The Presbyterian Church. Reservations are not required and a $3 donation is requested to benefit missions.

K of C will host fish dinners during Lent

Acme -- The Knights of Columbus will host dinners on Fridays during Lent at Christ the King Church.

The meal, featuring both baked and fried fish, will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 19 and 26, and March 5, 12 and 26 in the lower level of the church, 3801 Shore Road. Proceeds will help support local charities. Stations of the Cross will begin at 7 p.m. in the church for those who wish to participate. Call 947-7009 to learn more.

Two-day leadership seminar to be held

TRAVERSE CITY -- Transformation Traverse City will host a Marketplace Christianity leadership seminar on Feb. 26 and 27.

Transformation Traverse City is committed to transforming individual hearts through prayer and study of God's word and transforming the city through corporate prayer, fellowship and education. The seminar is designed to take leaders into intimacy with God and give greater revelation of their unique purpose in God's plan.

The seminar will meet at Twin Lakes Park, 6800 N. Long Lake Road. Sessions will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 26 and from 9 a.m. to noon, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 27. Seminar leaders are Bob Fraser and Ben Woodward from The Joseph Company, a marketplace leadership development group.
