Manistee School bands perform
Manistee — The Manistee fifth- and sixth-grade bands will give a concert Tuesday, Feb. 21.
The bands will perform at 7 p.m. in the Manistee High School auditorium, 550 Maple St. Admission is free and the public is invited. Donations will be accepted.
Manufacturing Tech information night
Traverse City — Current high school sophomores and juniors and their parents are invited to a Student/Parent Information Night on Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Manufacturing Technology Academy.
The academy offers a curriculum designed for students interested in engineering, robotics, management, product design and other technology-related professions.
The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the academy at NMC's Parsons-Stulen Building, 2600 Aero Park Drive. For details or reservations, call Tim Wheatley, 995-1304.
Fundraiser for 2012 Project Graduation
Kingsley — A chili cook-off will be held Friday, Feb. 24, for Kingsley High School's Project Graduation 2012.
The fundraiser will start at 5 p.m. at Kingsley High School. Admission is $5 per person or $12 per family. Each vote is an additional 25 cents. There also will be a bake sale.
Vote for the best pizza at Pizza Fest
Traverse City — Enjoy all-you-can-eat pizza and vote for your favorites at the second annual "Pizza Fest! Who's the Best?"
Ten local pizzerias will serve 30 different pizzas from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Central High School, 1150 Milliken Drive.
The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-10, and free for children 4 and younger.
Women in Business offer grants for girls
Petoskey — Connecting Women in Business, a group of the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce, is taking applications for its GO Grants for Girls.
Grants range from $100 to $500 and can be used as resources in any field of endeavor.
Girls applying must be in the Char-EM ISD service area and are required to work with an adult mentor, who will help them fill out and submit the application and work with the girl to help her achieve her dream.
The application deadline is March 1.

Zonta summer scholarships
Traverse City — The application deadline is March 2 for two summer scholarships being offered by the Zonta Club of Traverse City.
"Young Women in Science" is a two-day course offered June 14-15 through the Inland Seas Education Association.
It is designed for young women entering 10th through 12th grades.

"The Forensic Science and CSI" class will be held at Michigan Technological University July 17-23.

'Power of Art' video and 2D contest
Traverse City — Traverse City Light & Power is sponsoring a "Power of Art" contest as part of its celebration of 100 years of service.
The contest is for students and the community. It has two categories: video and two-dimensional art.
Community members are invited to produce an original video of up to five minutes that shows the importance of energy efficiency in the community.
The 2D category challenges students in grades six through 12 to brainstorm and create a work of art that displays the importance of energy efficiency in the community.
The deadline to submit entries for both categories is 4 p.m. March 16. Winners will be announced April 3 at an awards ceremony and group exhibition at the City Opera House, 106 E. Front St.

Delta Kappa Gamma Phi scholarship
Traverse City — High school seniors planning to pursue a degree in education can apply for the Delta Kappa Gamma Phi Chapter's Geraldine Pagel Grant-in-Aid Scholarship.
Applicants must submit a high school transcript, three references and a completed application.
The deadline for applications is April 9.

Art Rapids! offers three scholarships
Elk Rapids — Art Rapids! is offering scholarships to Elk Rapids high school students who are interested in furthering their studies in fine arts.
Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to students in grades nine through 11 for advanced instruction in visual or performing arts.
A $1,000 scholarship will go to an Elk Rapids High School senior planning to continue his or her education at an accredited college or institution with a major in a fine arts discipline.
All applicants must submit an essay, portfolio and letter of recommendation, in addition to a completed application.
The application deadline is April 15.

'Aida' returns to WSH stage
Traverse City — Elton John and Tim Rice's Tony Award-winning musical "Aida" will return to the West Senior High School stage.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24-25, March 1-3 and March 8-10; with matinees at 2 p.m. Feb. 26 and March 4 and 11, at the school, 5376 N. Long Lake Road. Tickets are $15 and $20.
