Traverse City — The Afghan Angels of the United Way Retired and Senior Volunteer Program invite the community to view their works of art at a reception from 1 to 3 p.m. today, Nov. 14, at 521 S. Union St. The Afghan Angels are a group of volunteers who knit or crochet lap blankets and afghans that are donated to shut in seniors through the Grand Traverse and Leelanau Commissions on Aging.

Life campus day
Traverse City — The Life Academy of Northwestern Michigan College will hold a Lifelong Learning Campus Day Friday, Nov. 16, from 9:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the University Center on Dendrinos Road off Cass Road.
The event features 45 short presentations on a variety of topics. The cost is $20. Attendees may bring their lunch or order a box lunch for an additional $9.

Mancelona — The Mancelona Community Craft Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Mancelona Elementary School. It is sponsored by Pathway Community Church's Hands and Feet Camp.
Food drive
Traverse City — Higher Self Book Store will sponsor a "Giving Thanks" food drive Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 17-18.

Bake, craft sale

Traverse City — A Transgender Day of Remembrance vigil will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Grand Traverse, 6726 Center Road.
WSH dancers
Traverse City — Students in a new "Dance II Choreography" class at West Senior High School will perform a piece designed to express an idea as it relates to a season on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
The dance performance, "Keep Calm and Dance On," will be staged at 7 p.m. in the WSH auditorium, 5376 N. Long Lake Road. Tickets are $2 at the door and proceeds support future dance productions.
Thanksgiving
Gaylord — The community is invited to share a holiday meal on Thanksgiving, Nov. 22, at the St. Mary's Cathedral Parish Hall, 606 N. Ohio.
