Meeting for nurses and student nurses

TRAVERSE CITY -- The next meeting of the Registered Nurses Association in Michigan will feature dinner and a program.

The group will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on March 11 in Pavilion 11 and 12 at Munson Medical Center, 1105 Sixth St. Sharon Olson, RN, Nurse Practitioner, and Amy Colombo, MA, LPC, MT, will give a presentation on music therapy. Pizza and salad will be available for a $5 donation.

Red Cross will offer pet first aid classes

TRAVERSE CITY -- The American Red Cross of Northwest Michigan will offer dog and cat first aid.

Both classes will meet on March 12 at the Red Cross Chapter Office, 735 S. Garfield Ave. Cat First Aid will be offered from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by dog first aid from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Participants will learn how to take care of their dog or cat in an emergency, symptoms and care for common ailments, disaster preparedness and contents for a pet first aid kit. Participants also receive a 116-page book and companion DVD that features step-by-step directions on topics from giving medication to administering CPR.

The cost is $30 per class or $50 for both sessions. For details or to register, call 947-7286.

Podiatrist will see patients in Manistee

MANISTEE -- On March 12, Podiatrist Kristopher W. Krannitz will begin seeing Manistee-area residents who need foot and ankle care.

Dr. Krannitz practices at Advanced Foot and Ankle Centers in Cadillac and Traverse City. He is board certified and provides patient care for a full scope of ankle and foot conditions.

Dr. Krannitz will see patients at an office in suite 4 at 1400 E. Parkdale Ave., across from West Shore Medical Center. For more information about making an appointment, call 398-1846.

Fundraiser for Third Level Crisis Center

TRAVERSE CITY -- Lil Bo Pub & Grille will host a fundraiser for Third Level Crisis Center's Transitional Living Program and also is accepting items for a silent auction.

The Transitional Living Program gives youth who are homeless, have run away or have aged out of foster care skill building and advocacy that will allow them to live independently. The goal is to raise $7,000 to rent two apartments for a year that would house up to six young people and have them graduate to independent living.

The fundraiser will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on March 15 at Lil Bo, 540 W. Front St. The Brotherz Groove will provide live music and there will be food and drink specials. All cash donations, 50 percent of sales, 25 percent of tips and all money raised from the silent auction will go to Third Level.

Donations for the silent auction will be accepted until March 12 at Lil Bo. For more information, call 946-6925.
