'Toy Bus' to stop
Traverse City — Area buses will substitute for Santa's sleigh as they collect donations for Toys for Tots.
The Toy Bus will stop today, Nov. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fox Motors in Charlevoix; from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at A. Papano's Pizza, Beulah; and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Meijer in Traverse City. TV 7&4 will broadcast live from each location and Meijer will match toys donated from their Traverse City store on Friday.
Traverse City — The Traverse Bay Mennonite Youth Group will accept orders for its annual cookie-baking sale until Friday, Dec. 7.
Cookies are $5.50 a dozen. Varieties include chocolate chip, molasses gingersnaps, snickerdoodle, peanut butter blossom, chocolate crinkles, Russian tea cakes, and monster cookies. Orders may be picked up 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 915 Carver St.

Call for art
Frankfort — The Elizabeth Lane Oliver Center of the Arts is seeking art for a "Spirituality Expressed" exhibit and also for a furniture and fiber exhibit.
Art for "Spirituality Expressed" themed exhibit will be accepted 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 3-4, at the gallery, 132 Coast Guard Road. Artists may submit up to two pieces of original artwork. The exhibit will open with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, and will be on display through Jan. 6.
Furniture and fiber artists are invited to submit entries from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 7-8, for the Oliver Center for the Arts annual Furniture & Fiber Exhibit. The exhibit opens with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, and will be on view through March 3.

Benefit bake sales
Traverse City — Bake sales will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, in Traverse City, and Sunday, Dec. 2 in Bellaire to raise money for Margaret Hayes' cancer treatment.

Grawn — A dedication and ribbon-cutting for the Blair Mini Free Library will start at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in the parking lot of Odom Re-Use Co., 5555 Brentwood Ave.
The little library, constructed and donated by Joe and Caroline Loney as a gift to the Blair Community, will be stocked with a variety of books for all ages. Patrons are encouraged to "take a book or leave a book."
