Dr. Frederick S. Wreford, founder and president of Advanced Pathology Services Department of Mercy Hospital, Cadillac, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Clinical Pathology.
Cambridge Who's Who Registry names only two male and two female members in each discipline professionals of the year. The honorees are selected based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements and leadership abilities.
Dr. Wreford specializes in anatomic and clinical pathology and has 22 years of experience in his profession. He has a doctor of medicine from the American University of the Caribbean and is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society for Microbiology, the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the College of American Pathologists. He also trained as a fellow in clinical microbiology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

The American Hospital Association recently recognized Kalkaska Memorial Health Center for 50 years of membership in the association, which is a national advocate for its members and is committed to health improvement.
The hospital opened in 1953 as a District Hospital Authority and joined the national advocacy group in 1959. It is part of the Munson Healthcare System and provides emergency medical care, inpatient and outpatient services and long-term care for residents of Kalkaska County.

Representatives from Kohl's Department Stores recently presented a check for $44, 808 to Healthy Futures representatives. The donation brings Kohl's support of the program to $169,798. Funds were raised through Kohl's Cares for Kids® sales in Traverse City and Gaylord.
Healthy Futures is a collaborative program among area health care providers, health departments and Munson Healthcare. Families who deliver babies at Munson Medical Center are offered education on child development to age 5, connection to local resources and support from a registered nurse. With Kohl's support, Healthy Futures has expanded its postpartum home visiting and supportive services to include a second visit if a mother needs additional assistance in breastfeeding her newborn.
