Hospitals offer payment program

TRAVERSE CITY -- Kalkaska Memorial Health Center, Munson Medical Center and Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital have implemented a new patient-friendly, zero-percent interest program to help patients with out-of-pocket health care costs.

The hospitals, in collaboration with Aequitas Capital Management, are offering CarePayment, an extended term, zero-percent financing program for patients who are without insurance, or those with a balance after their insurance has been applied to a hospital bill. The program is available to patients regardless of employment or credit history and no approval is needed. It was developed to address the financial challenges patients often face, whether due to higher copays and insurance deductibles, or lack of medical insurance altogether.

Patients may enroll while registering or at discharge from the hospital. If a patient requests to be enrolled in CarePayment they will be referred to a financial counselor. Patients are offered low monthly payments of four percent of their balance or $25, whichever is greater.
