Blair Township Emergency Medical Services will receive $64,000 through FEMA and the Assistance to Firefighters Grant to purchase three new 12-lead EKG Monitor/Defibrillators.

The new cardiac monitors will allow Blair Township paramedics to rapidly evaluate and treat cardiac rhythm disturbances as well as recognize and treat STEMI-related heart attacks. The monitors also have the ability to measure oxygen, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide levels in the blood stream.

The total project cost is about $80,000. FEMA will pay 80 percent of the cost ($64,000) and Blair Township EMS will pay the 20 percent matching funds ($16,000).
