Farmers Market plans potluck
SUTTONS BAY -- The Leelanau Farmers Markets will hold their annual meeting and potluck beginning at 6 p.m., Tuesday at the Leelanau County Government Center, 8527 E. Government Center Drive. Vendors, customers and community supporters are all invited to attend, and are asked to bring a dish to pass and their own table service.
Habitat for Humanity dedication Thursday
benzonia -- The community is invited to Habitat for Humanity of Benzie County's dedication of the Norton home at 6 p.m. Thursday, located on the corner of M-115 and Barber St. This is the second of three home starts in 2009 and the second home to be dedicated by Habitat for Humanity of Benzie County.
Green Party groups welcome canoeist
TRAVERSE CITY -- The fall meeting of the Northwestern Michigan College Student Greens and the Traverse Bay Watershed Green, the local Green Party of Michigan group, will be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Horizon Books on Front Street. The groups meet jointly on the third Tuesday of each month. Special guest Steve Brede will talk about his 400-mile solo canoe trip around Lake Huron.
Genealogists celebrate holidays
TRAVERSE CITY -- The Grand Traverse Genealogical Society will hold its holiday party on Thursday, Nov. 19
The party, which begins at 1 p.m. at the Latter Day Saints Church, 3746 Veterans Drive, is open to anyone. Bring a finger food to pass as well as any genealogical information you'd like to share or have questions about.

History program examines carver
TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse Area Historical Society will present a program on the history and work of Grand Traverse area stone carver, Gottlieb Pilz on Thursday.
Kathleen Farley of the Grand Traverse Genealogical Society will speak at 7 p.m. at the Grand Traverse Heritage Center, 322 Sixth St.
