Interlochen — Preschool story hour returns Wednesday, Sept. 19, to the Interlochen Public Library.

Peace Pole planted
Traverse City — Northern Michigan Cultural Center Shaolin Project and White Tiger Martial Arts invites the community to join them on International Day of Peace to plant a Peace Pole at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at White Tiger Martial Arts, 545 E. Eighth St. For details, call 313-6900.
Join Boy Scouts
Traverse City — Boy Scout Troop 36 for ages 10½ to 18 and Pack 36 for ages 7-10 invite area boys to join Boy Scouts. The troop and pack meet at Central United Methodist Church, 222 Cass St. For details, call 946-5191.
CROP Walk set
Traverse City — The 32nd annual Traverse City Area CROP Hunger Walk will be held Sunday, Oct. 14. The walk begins at 2 p.m. at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center. Participants walk a 10k route.
Twenty-five percent of the money raised through CROP remains in the community to benefit local food pantries. The remainder of funds support hunger relief programs in 80 countries.

Lunches benefit fund
Lunch On The Run will be held Sept. 20- 21 with all proceeds going to benefit Munson Medical Center's Women's Cancer Fund.
Cost for the Jimmy John's sandwich lunch is $10 with delivery available in many Traverse City area locations without additional charge. Orders can be made at www.BillMarshLunch.com. Employees of Bill Marsh Auto and Hagerty Insurance have organized the event. They are limited to selling 1,000 sandwiches over the two days, but people will be able to purchase additional lunch certificates that can be redeemed in October.
Lunch on the Run was first organized in 2007 as a way to support to The Remembrance Run, which is a 5k-run/walk event that takes place Oct. 6 at Timber Ridge Resort. Registration for the Remembrance Run is online at www.RemembranceRun.com.
