Texas band coming
Traverse City — Tickets go on sale today, Oct. 12, for a concert by nine-time Grammy winning Texas swing band Asleep at the Wheel.
The band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at the City Opera House, 106 E. Front St. Reserved seating tickets are $30 each.

Meet CG heroes
Traverse City — The community can meet local active duty and retired Coast Guardsmen and their families and thank them for protecting northern Michigan's shoreline from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Fox Grand Traverse, 3464 N. Onekama — The Onekama Fall Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 13.

Call for art entries
Traverse City — Individuals recovering from anything are invited to submit art through Friday, Oct. 19, for the sixth annual "Art of Recovery: The Human Journey" show.
The show will open with a reception from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at InsideOut Gallery, 229 Garland St. Artwork will be on display through November.
Art in good condition, matted or framed and suitably wired for display may be delivered during normal business hours to Northern Lakes Community Mental Health, 105 Hall St., second floor. Traverse City — The League of Women Voters will hold a public forum for 1st U.S. Congressional District candidates.
Congressman Dan Benishek and candidate Gary McDowell will participate in the forum from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere Ave. The community is invited.
'Angelina' on stage
Traverse City — "Angelina Ballerina the Musical" comes to the City Opera House, 106 E. Front St., on Saturday, Oct. 20.
The musical will be presented at 3 p.m. It is based on the CG-animated series "Angelina Ballerina the Next Steps" on PBS Kids.

Right Brain opens
Traverse City — Right Brain Brewery, 225 E. 16th St., will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 20, with an indoor Street Fair and Flea Market themed event from 2 p.m. to close.
Flea market hours are 2 to 7 p.m. with arts, crafts, beer-inspired street food from Roaming Harvest, live acoustic street performers and activities for children.
There will be free music by the Accidentals at 8 p.m., the FunDubMentals at 9 p.m. and K. Jones & the Benzie Playboys at 11 p.m. All ages are welcome until 9 p.m., when children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Dine out for charity
Traverse City — La Senorita on U.S. 31 near Sam's Club will donate 20 percent of sales from 11 a.m. to midnight on Tuesday, Oct. 16, to Horse North Rescue, a 501c3 nonprofit.
Patrons must present a coupon to participate. Coupons are available at Hilltop Feeds, Kingsley Branch Library, the Peninsula Community Library and Square Deal Country Store.
Quintet from WMU
Suttons Bay — Chamber Music North will sponsor a concert by the Western Wind Quintet from Western Michigan University.
The performance is at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Black Star Farms. A pre-concert dinner will be offered for $30.
