TRAVERSE CITY — Claire Emily Gibbons and Robert Max Schurig were united in marriage at The Presbyterian Church in Traverse City on Aug. 11, 2012. The Rev. Becky Chamberlain officiated at the late afternoon nuptials. Musicians included Michael Finney, Kendall Buzzelli, Alex Anderson, the MSU Spartan Dischords and Sean Wagner.
Lisa Hemming of Traverse City attended her friend as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Rachel Schurig of Wyandotte, Emily Gibbons of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Katy Schurig of Royal Oak, Jenna Jayroe of Clinton Twp., and Shawne Benson of San Francisco. Greta and Petra Dwyer were flowers girls.
Peter Wilton of Detroit served as his friend's best man. Groomsmen were Nick Hathaway of Grosse Pointe, Keenan Gibbons of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Steve Book of Rochester, Rob Zelle of East Lansing and John Abud of Boston. Evan and Luke Cortez and Sam Morris served as ushers. Casey Morris was the ring bearer.
The couple greeted guests at a reception at West Bay Event Center in Greilickville. Cocktails were followed by dinner, dancing and the MSU fight song. The newlyweds honeymooned in the Bahamas and are living in Northville.
Claire is the daughter of Pat and Kathy Gibbons of Traverse City. She graduated from Traverse City Central High School and received a bachelor's degree in music education from Michigan State University. Claire is director of choirs at Novi High School.
Max is the son of Bob and Kathy Schurig of Royal Oak. He graduated from Dondero High School and earned a bachelor's degree in political theory and constitutional democracy from Michigan State University's James Madison College. Max is employed as a senior recruiter at Youngsoft in Wixom.

Priest uses big rig to make special deliveries
