TRAVERSE CITY — Mr. and Mrs. Donald L. Emerson II, of Traverse City, observed their 30th wedding anniversary on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013. They celebrated on a second honeymoon to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Donald L. Emerson II and the former Karen A. Kemppainen met in 1977 at Macomb Community College. They were married on Jan. 28, 1983, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor. The Rev. Ronald Zehnder performed the ceremony.
Mr. Emerson is a nurse assistant at Munson Medical Center. Mrs. Emerson is a manager at Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency. They have lived in the Grand Traverse area for 25 years.
The couple's children are Sara Emerson, of Kalamazoo, and Noah, Spenser and Abilene Emerson, all of Traverse City.
