Dinner for breast cancer prevention
BELLAIRE -- The Dockside will sponsor a dinner to benefit the Antrim County High Tea for Breast Cancer Prevention.
The fundraiser will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday at the restaurant, Torch Lake at Clam River. Half of the evening's proceeds will benefit the nonprofit organization.
MS patients invited to presentation
TRAVERSE CITY -- Anyone newly diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, on therapy or considering a switch, or anyone who is a CarePartner, family member or friend is invited to connect with others in the multiple sclerosis community at a program on Friday.
"How to Make Life with MS Manageable," will begin with registration from 6 to 6:30 p.m. at the Great Wolf Lodge Conference Center, 3575 N. U.S. 31 South. The program will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and will include information on MS, treatment options and support services.

'Bizarre Bazaar' will benefit AIDS Walk
TRAVERSE CITY -- Artists, craftsmen and musicians will participate in a fundraiser for the Northern Michigan AIDS Walk.
The "Bizarre Bazaar" will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at SideTraxx, 520 Franklin St. In addition to arts, crafts and merchandise for sale, there will be a silent auction, food and more. Vendors will donate 10 percent of their sales to the walk.

Area Glen's promote healthy hearts
Grand Rapids -- Area Glen's pharmacies will team up with General Mills to promote heart health and healthy eating.
Pharmacies at Glen's locations will offer free heart health screenings, provide samples and coupons for heart healthy products, answer questions, distribute "Know Your Numbers" patient cards to track screening results, and provide pedometers.
Screenings will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Glen's Markets on Friday in Kalkaska, 784 S. Cedar St.; Wednesday in Gaylord, 829 W. Main St.; Sept. 22 in Cheboygan, 992 S. Main; Sept. 23 in Traverse City, 4144 U.S. 31 South; Sept. 24 in Grayling, 2470 S. Grayling Road, and Bellaire, 231 S. Division; and Sept. 25 in Boyne City, 430 N. Lake St.
Alden offers foot care, blood pressure
ALDEN -- The Northwest Michigan Community Health Agency will provide a community blood pressure screening and a foot care clinic in Alden.

Free workshop at Sacred Space Yoga

Museum will hold Kids' Safety Day
TRAVERSE CITY -- The Great Lakes Children's Museum will hold its second annual Kids' Safety Day on Sept. 20.
The event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. and features demonstrations and hands-on activities to help families and children learn about safety. First responders, safety officers and safety-related organizations will be on hand with their vehicles and equipment for children to explore.

Fundraiser to help stop sarcoidosis
ACME -- Your Event Space will host a "Movie & Dessert Theater" fundraiser to help stop sarcoidosis.
The event will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 21 at Your Event Space, 6100 U.S. 31 North. It will include dessert, a screening of the feature film "Welcome to Paradise" and live music. Tickets are $10 and proceeds will benefit the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research. For details, call 938-2688.
Parkinson Care Series registration
TRAVERSE CITY -- Registration is under way for a Parkinson Care Series that will be offered in partnership with Northwestern Michigan College and the Grand Traverse Area Parkinson's Support Group.
The eight-week series will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays from Sept. 29 through Nov. 17 in room 7 at the NMC University Center, Dendrinos Drive off Cass Road. It is designed to expand the knowledge and skill of health care providers involved with caring for those with Parkinson's disease and is geared toward anyone working in long-term care settings including assisted living, foster care, senior care housing, rehab and nursing homes.
