Jeanne Strathman, BC-HiS, of Advanced Hearing Center, PC, participated in reviewing and helping to develop the Michigan State Licensing Exam for hearing aid dealers during a session in October in Detroit.
Strathman has been recognized as an expert in her field by the State of Michigan and PSI Services of California. She served as a director on the Michigan Hearing Aid Society and helped establish current laws and policies protecting consumers' rights. She is president and owner of Advanced Hearing Center in Traverse City and Benzonia.

Mitchell Saxton, a member of Kalkaska Memorial Health Center's plant engineering department for nine years, has been named president of the Michigan Society for Healthcare Engineers.
Saxton previously served as chairman of the group's education committee and as president-elect. His duties include helping organize the 2009 annual meeting and training opportunities for the organization's members.

Bethany Ostlund, staffing coordinator for Comfort Keepers of northwest Michigan, received a full scholarship from the Healthcare Regional Skills Alliance of Northwest Michigan to attend a Coaching Supervision and Leader Executive Seminar in October.
Comfort Keepers provides in-home care and services to help people maintain full and independent lives in their own homes. Local franchise offices in Traverse City and Petoskey are owned and operated by Russ and Leslie Knopp. Ostlund has been with the business since August 2007 and is responsible for coordinating all client and caregiver schedules.

Wiliam Northway, DDS, MS, of Traverse City was selected to the give the keynote address for the American Association of Orthodontists at the national meeting of the American Dental Association in San Antonio, Texas.
Northway's lecture focused on integrating techniques and tools to facilitate improved communication between the orthodontist and the general dentist.

Andrea Pease has been appointed to the Northern Michigan Regional Council of the Alzheimer's Association Greater Michigan Chapter.
Pease works as branch manager and treasury management officer for mBank in Traverse City and volunteers as an ambassador for the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce. Her role on the regional council is to actively support the regional staff, provide outreach and liaisons into the communities and help generate new program ideas.

Scott Monteith, MD, has been reappointed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm to Michigan's Controlled Substance Advisory Commission.
Monteith provides psychiatry services to Northern Lakes Community Mental Health. He represents licensed health care professionals from the field of psychiatry on the advisory commission.
