Lt. j.g. Casey Corpe was awarded his U.S. Coast Guard Aviator's Wings on Jan. 8. He received his wings from his father, Michael Corpe, a retired United States Coast Guard Flight Mechanic and Traverse City native. The ceremony was held after Casey Corpe's graduation from Naval Flight School at the Naval Aviation Training Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Corpe has been assigned to the Coast Guard's air station in Barbers Point, Hawaii. After additional training at the Coast Guard's air station in Clearwater, Fla., Corpe will pilot the Coast Guard's Lockheed HC-130 aircraft.

Air Force Airman James Wentzel graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Tom and Paula Wentzel, of Traverse City, and a 2009 graduate of Traverse City Central High School.
