An early morning fire in Antrim County nearly destroyed a home on Alden Highway near Mcpherson Road.
The fire broke out shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday. Two occupants escaped without injury and called 911.
Four fire departments responded — South Torch Lake, Bellaire, Mancelona and Kalkaska County's Clearwater Township — and fought the blaze for nearly five hours.
Mancelona Fire Chief Ed Sayre said the upper-level of the two-story home was destroyed and the lower level suffered water damage. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire.
