Detroit shooting suspect to be released

DETROIT (AP) -- A prosecutor says there is not enough evidence to keep an 18-year-old Detroit man in custody in the shootings of seven teenagers at a bus stop after summer school classes.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy says in a statement that Jamel Turner will be released Thursday evening "in the best interests of justice."

Turner surrendered to police Wednesday. The Associated Press left a message Thursday seeking comment from his attorney.

Police still are seeking the two gunmen and a getaway driver from Tuesday's shooting near Cody Ninth Grade Academy. Five of the shooting victims are students at the school.

Police say three are still being treated at local hospitals.

Authorities still are trying to determine what sparked the shooting.
