EAST LELAND — Adeline Elizabeth (Pertner) Alpers, 100, of East Leland, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Tendercare of Leelanau. Adeline was the youngest child born to Philip and Adeline (Steffens) Pertner on Oct. 28, 1912, at their family home in East Leland.
She married Harold Roy Alpers in Detroit in 1938. They lived in East Leland for 41 years at the Alpers family homestead of three generations before retiring to Leland in 1979.
She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Leland, a Ladies Aid member and a member of World Relief, where she helped and sewed quilts.
Her husband, Harold, preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1979. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Philip and Adeline; one brother, Herman; four sisters, Anna Knight, Edith Silverthorn, Esther Oberlin and Caroline Alpers; and her son, Ronald Alpers.
Adeline is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Doug) Ann Poort; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service, on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Leland. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service, and then immediate family members will attend the burial in East Leland Cemetery. The Rev. Lawrence Matro will officiate.
