Why ads in Gaylord?

Every morning I hear news about the Traverse City Area Public Schools budget shortfalls and need to cut spending.

Every morning for a time I saw a television ad lauding the TCAPS school system and encouraging enrollment.

Why are taxpayer dollars being wasted on television advertising? Is there more than one public school system in Traverse City? Why advertise in Gaylord?

Is that freedom?

Less government, more corporate freedoms -- freedoms to pollute, skim our tax dollar and maximize profits, at our expense.

As reported by a host of sources, the anti-government movement has been organized and funded quietly for 30 years by shadow powers with big money, with their corporate interests in mind. Theirs is a well-planned agenda and we are its pawns. They undermine Americans' innate decency and compassion with misinformation and fear. They vilify "entitlements" and spending on citizens as if it is un-American to pool our tax dollars to get better deals for and help ourselves.

They decry government regulations as curtailing our freedoms, but it is their freedom to shape American culture to their own ends and to maximize their profit that is their true agenda.

The corporation mandate is to maximize profits. Period. Corporations answer only to Wall Street and we have no recourse to affect their policies. We the people are our government, and only together are we strong enough to stand up to corporate power.

Weaken our government oversight and regulations, giving them free reign to maximize their profits at our expense, and they have won.

Is that freedom?
