Grawn man faces multiple charges

FROM STAFF REPORTS

TRAVERSE CITY -- A Grawn man faces several criminal charges after he allegedly sold several items he stole.

James William Councilor, 26, is charged with larceny of firearms, unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle, larceny between $200 and $1,000 and an alternate charge of receiving and concealing stolen property. He hadn't been arrested Thursday morning.

A man said he discovered two long guns and a 1983 Lincoln missing from his Blair Township property in April, court records show. A trailer on his property was stripped of metal.

An employee of Traverse Bay Recycling allegedly told police Councilor was paid for scrap metal in April, and another man said he paid Councilor $250 for two long guns in April.
