TRAVERSE CITY -- An East Bay Township teen faces a criminal charge for attempted arson.
Gary Travis Sladek, 19, is charged with misdemeanor attempted arson for allegedly trying to set fire to woods and prairies on May 23, during northern Michigan's annual wildfire season.
Sladek is set to be arraigned on June 8 in 86th District Court in Traverse City before Judge Michael Haley.
Sladek faces up to one year in prison and a possible $1,000 fine, if convicted.
Fire and police officials found a victim about 3:30 p.m. today inside a Kalkaska Township home engulfed by flames.
