Regional win puts Striders in nationals
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The K-Town Striders will be striding to nationals after the Kingsley cross country team won regionals on Saturday.
The team of five runners in grades 3-5 won the Junior Olympics regional in Lexigton, Ky., and will head to nationals Dec. 12 in Reno, Nev.
Leading the way was Remmi King, who placed third with a time of 13:07 on the 3K course.
She was followed by teammates Bethany McNair (eighth in 13:55), Katelyn Duffing (ninth in 14:08), Josephine Durecki (12th in 15:10) and Hannah Richards (16th in 16:14).
The team scored a meet-low 48 points, well ahead of runner-up Centerline, Ky.
TC Bulldogs open season with 2 wins
CARSON CITY -- The Traverse City Homeschool Bulldogs kicked off the season with two victories, winning the Butternut Tournament at Carson City.
The Bulldogs started off by topping Lansing-area team CHAP 57-31 behind 23 points, 10 rebounds and five assists from Ellisha Crosby.
Kasey Acton added 17 points and eight steals, Rachel Crosby chipped in 10 points and seven boards and Sarah Morrison had six steals.
TC then knocked off Howell-based HAACH in the finals by a 68-56 count.
Ellisha Crosby scored 23 points and added eight boards and six steals, while Acton had another 17-point, eight-steal performance and Rachel Crosby registered 15 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and five assists.
The Bulldogs play at Manton on Dec. 1.
