WEST BRANCH -- Evan Cover's third-place finish led Traverse City Central's boys cross country team to a win in the 11-team Ogemaw Heights Invitational.
Charlevoix was third and Cadillac fourth behind the second-place hosts.
Cover finished the course in 17:43, just 13 seconds ahead of teammate Drew Dancer, who was fifth. Max Johnson was 12th in 18:26, Caleb Thompson 17th in 18:57 and James Padden 22nd in 19:09.
Charlevoix was led by Erci Buday's second-place finish in 17:37. Kirk Achraya (18:15) was eighth and Andrew Plude (18:16) ninth.
Cadillac's Ryan Herth was fourth in 17:51 and Tyler Pullen was sixth at 18:03.

Central girls 2nd in Rochester Adams Invite
Traverse City Central placed its all of top five runners in the top 25 of the 11-team Rochester Adams Invitational en route to a second-place finish.
Brighton won the event with 54 teams points, followed by Central (73), the hosts (100) and Northville (110), who had medalist Gina McNamara (19:27).
Central's Katie Perkins was fourth overall in 19:41, followed by Samantha Ehle (20:33, ninth), Maren Bahra (20:43, 14th), Adrianna Bruder (21:14, 22nd) and Jessica Krantz (21:18, 24th).
The Trojans ran without leading runner Julia Otwell, who was on a recruiting visit to the University of Wisconsin.

Burt Lake NMCA 1
Roscommon downed Burt Lake Northern Michigan Christian Academy 2-1 in a big Northern Michigan Soccer League showdown.
The game was scoreless at halftime before the Bucks struck twice early in the second. Paul Chatfield scored for NMCA (4-2, 3-1) midway through the second half off a Tommy Rew assist.

Filipe Carvalho scored three times for a 4-0 Lake Michigan Conference win over Kalkaska.
The Vikings (3-1, 2-0 LMC) had two assists from Colin Hamlin. Nick Sendek had 15 saves for the shutout.
Kalkaska (2-1) had a number of saves from Mason Moses.

Forest Area 1
Houghton Lake scored two unanswered goals for a 2-1 win over Forest Area.
The Warriors (3-2) scored 18 minutes into the game when Ryan Mage found Marco Martinez.
Matt Leffew played his first game in goal for Forest Area and made nine saves.
TENNIS
St. Francis rolls Saginaw Nouvel 7-1 in tennis
In town on the same night as St. Francis' showdown with Saginaw Nouvel in football, the Gladiators took care of business on the tennis court.
St. Francis routed Nouvel 7-1.
The Panthers' only victory came at No. 1 singles.
The Gladiators rolled the rest of the day, dropping no more than two games in any of the other seven matches.
St. Francis' singles wins came from Michael Elliott (6-0, 6-1), Mac Corcoran (6-1, 6-0) and Alex Primeau (6-0, 6-1).
The Glads swept all the doubles flights, as Sean Paquet/Newton Calutt (6-0, 6-0), Alex Rushlow/Josh Quinlan (6-2, 6-0), Josh Kurtz/Pat Wilson (6-2, 6-0) and Chris Miller/Stephen Siddall (6-0, 6-0) breezed.
St. Francis plays at Traverse City West next Thursday.

Elk Rapids swept singles for a 6-2 Lake Michigan Conference win over Boyne City.
The Elks (2-1) had wins from Donnie Fedrigon (6-0, 6-3), Kyle Hoover (6-4, 6-1), Josh Mosher (6-0, 6-0) and E.J. Campbell (6-0, 6-0). Elk Rapids also won No. 1 doubles with Daniel Parlin/Billy Wolfington (6-2, 6-3) and No. 3 with Nathan Atkinson and Zane Gates (6-7, 6-0, 10-2).
Boyne City's winners were Caleb Crouch/Wil Stone (6-4, 3-6, 6-1) and Lawrence Parr/Spencer Korthase (6-4, 6-3).
TC West JV 8
Ludington JV 0
Traverse City West's JV picked up an 8-0 win over host Ludington.
Charlie Pacer, Ben Greenman and Mac Templeton had singles wins while Tyler Harris/Max Hughes, Andrew Baker/Sam Sanderson and Luke Piotrowski/Willie Hanrahan won in doubles.
Ludington was void at No. 4 doubles while Templeton won both No. 3 and No. 4 singles for West.
St. Francis JV wins own tournament
The Traverse City St. Francis Blue JV scored 22 points to win its own tournament.
Cadillac's JV was second with 10, followed by the St. Francis Gold (9) and Petoskey's JV (7).
Keith Gingras, Briggs Richmond and Tanner Hobbs won singles for St. Francis Blue while Brendan Barnes/Alex Grombala, Nathan Haggard/Stephen Knape and Cole McCardel/Chase Redmond were the winning doubles teams.
GOLF
TC Central 14th in Ann Arbor Invitational
Chelsea Guoynes shot an 85 to finish just one shot out of the top 10 and lead Traverse City Central to a 14th-place finish at the 20-team Ann Arbor Invitational.
Rachel Jurik carded a 99 for Central, followed by Courtney Dye, Kelly White (103) and Maria Frick (105).
Brighton won the tournament.
The Trojans travel to Petoskey next Friday for a Big North Conference match.
Central's JV Black team placed 12th in the 16-team Fremont Invitational. The Trojans were led by Lauren Truschke (104), Katie Madison (112), Allyson Schultz (112) and Lauren Cutler (118).
