Police seeking tips on snatchings

TRAVERSE CITY -- Police hope tips will solve two purse snatchings.

Traverse City police went to Union Street Station at 1:30 a.m. Aug. 22. A woman's purse went missing from a table after she went to dance, and witnesses told police they saw two men standing near it shortly before it was taken.

Police found the purse the next day. A cell phone and $60 in cash were missing from the purse.

About an hour after the first incident, a woman reported her purse stolen from the walkway under the bridge near the U.S. Post Office on Union Street.

Two men took a woman's purse and ran off, though the purse was recovered with all contents intact a short time later. Police believe the same two men were involved in both incidents.

Anyone with information can contact the Traverse City Police Department at 995-5152 or 947-TIPS.
