Wendecker returns to North Stars

TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City North Stars received a boost on Tuesday when defenseman Phil Wendecker opted to rejoin the team.

The move will help the team, which expects to contend for the NAHL's North Division title, at the blueline. The Stars recently lost David Chaney to Western Michigan University.

Wendecker had five goals and 13 assists last year in his second season with the club and was ninth among NAHL blueliners with a +14 +/- rating.

The Stars will host Alpena in an exhibition game Thursday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 with a portion of the proceeds going to the Dallas Drake GTHA New Skater Fund. TC travels to Alpena for an exhibition today.
