Teen dies in Missaukee car crash

LAKE CITY -- A Lake City teen died in a Missaukee County traffic crash.

Alexander Ash, 15, was pronounced dead at the scene of the two-vehicle crash. It happened at about 9:45 p.m. Monday on M-55 near Menzies Road in Reeder Township.

A tractor-semi truck headed west lost control, crossed the center line, jackknifed and slid into an eastbound car driven by Michelle Ash, 41, of Lake City. Alexander Ash was a front-seat passenger in the car.

Michelle Ash was taken to Munson Medical Center and remained in critical condition Tuesday. The driver of the truck, Elmira resident Jeff Lofquist, wasn't injured.

Road conditions were wet and slippery at the time, police said.
