Leelanau County Sheriff Mike Oltersdorf said the winter storm failed to cause any major accidents into Wednesday afternoon.
But he did advise deputies to practice "common sense" on roadways.
"If there's not a need to have patrols out, we'll keep them parked," he said.
Benzie County Sheriff Rory Heckman attributed Wednesday's low accident totals to additional safety measures taken by local motorists.
"Last weekend, we actually had more accidents," he said. "This snow right here, everyone is taking it easy. They can see how deep it is."
