HANCOCK -- Traverse City Central downed Hancock 6-1 in the event named after Trojan coach Chris Givens' former coach.
Givens, a standout hockey player in high school at Hancock, played for the man the Rick Miller Classic is named after. Miller died of cancer last year.
Cooper Macdonell notched a natural hat trick with three consecutive goals, one to end the second-period scoring and two to start the third.
Jared VanWormer scored Central's first two goals -- both set up by Alex Wietrick -- and Adam Swy capped off the game with a third-period lamplighter assisted by Connor Gartland and Kyle Froese.
VanWormer assisted on two of Macdonell's goals, with Smy and Garrett Frain also picking up helpers.
Chris Grunst made 15 saves between the pipes for the victory.
Houghton -- Central's opponent in today's 3 p.m. matchup -- defeated Ashwaubenon (Wis.) 3-2 in the other game.
Wednesday's postponed game between Central (2-2) and TC West will be played on Dec. 22 at 7 p.m.
