TRAVERSE CITY -- The Father Fred Foundation's annual Frostbite Food Drive is under way.
The drive, now in its 15th year, began Friday and will last through Feb. 8. Donations of money and non-perishable food items will be accepted from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Father Fred staff said they want to top last year's results of 45 pallets filled with food and $25,000 collected.
As of Friday morning, donors contributed more than $200 and "a whole pallet of macaroni and cheese," operations director Norm Bamberg said.
"The demand's going up, so hopefully we can do more than we usually do," he said.
Food and monetary gifts can be taken to the Garfield Plaza parking lot on Garfield Avenue in Traverse City.
