TRAVERSE CITY -- The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality will accept water quality monitoring grant applications through Feb. 20.
The DEQ has three categories of grant projects available, including $200,000 for inland lakes beach monitoring grants, $150,000 for local water quality monitoring grants and $150,000 for emerging issue monitoring grants. Local governments and nonprofit agencies are eligible for funding.
Grant application packages are available by calling Denise Page at (517) 335-6969 or sending e-mails to paged@michigan.gov. The package includes information about funding priorities, detailed instructions to develop a proposal, criteria by which proposals will be evaluated and items that should be included with grant applications.
