-- A Recycled Art Bazaar will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Crystal Lake Art Center, 111 10th St. in Frankfort, where local artists have re-purposed or reused art; call (231) 253-4151.

-- Climate educator Peter Sinclair will give two free lectures called "Global Climate 2009: Update on the Planetary Emergency," at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Dennos Museum Center's Milliken Auditorium at Northwestern Michigan College.

-- Green Energy Day at Northwestern Michigan College's Energy Demonstration Center at the Aero Park campus, M-TEC room 157, from 1 to 5 p.m. Local experts will showcase technology, host informational seminars and demonstrate wind power, solar electricity, solar hot water heating, geothermal energy, fuel cell and biodiesel technology, plus energy-efficiency programs in the area. Cost is $20.

-- The 2009 Earth Day Parade's theme is "Growing and Gardening," focusing on back and front yard gardens, water issues and global warming. Parade lineup begins at Central Grade School at 12 p.m.; parade begins at 1 p.m. and winds through downtown Traverse City and ends up at Hannah Park and the Heritage Center.

-- A Puppet and Mask telling of our "Growing and Gardening" story at the Heritage Center, 322 Sixth St. in Traverse City, from 3 to 5 p.m., with a family-friendly concert with The Earthwork Music Collective.

-- Green Fair, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Heritage Center, 322 Sixth St. in Traverse City, featuring green entrepreneurs from around the region.

-- Earth Day Celebration at the Grass River Natural Area, 6500 Alden Highway near Bellaire, beginning at 1 p.m. Build a bird feeder, a toad shelter, a worm composting container or make nontoxic laundry concentrate; call (231) 533-8314 or go to www.grassriver.org.

-- Earth Day Celebration at Hartwick Pines State Park in Grayling, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bird hikes, wildlife quizzes, scavenger hunts and children's activities are planned. Motor vehicle permit is required; go to www.michigan.gov/dnr for more information.
