• Postmaster Frank Friedrich is the recipient of a letter from Jerry Sullivan, of San Diego. He wrote that recently there was a Michigan gathering in California with a dance and banquet for about 300 former Michigan residents.
• Word has been received from Milwaukee that Capt. W. E. Franklin has recovered sufficiently from an attack of typhoid fever to be able to leave the hospital. However, he will be spared for a time the pleasure of returning to his duties as captain of the steamer Iowa due to the fact that it, together with the steamer Racine, are icebound just outside Chicago.
• The Rev. J. J. Walsh, of Manistee, returned to his home today after several days' visit here as the guest of the Rev. John J. Sheehan. Walsh has finally induced Father Sheehan to go to Manistee for treatment of an illness.
• Mrs. Joseph Rasignol and her guest, Mrs. Nora M. Kroll, of Saginaw, delightfully entertained a company of friends at the Rasignol suite of rooms in the Wilhelm block Friday evening in compliment to Mrs. G. Lote Silver. After a diligent search with others at the Musicians' party Thursday evening, Mrs. Silver succeeded in finding a valuable diamond Mrs. Kroll had the misfortune to lose.
• The members of the provisional committee in the movement for the new hospital for Traverse City met in the parlors of the Park Place last evening to transact preparatory business and to get the plans under way. Among the committee members present were Dr. J. D. Munson, W. F. Calkins, C. L. Greilick, P. C. Gilbert, Mrs. J. R. Santo and Mrs. J. T. Hannah.
