Frankfort Fourth

Artist performs

Maple City — New York City artist and host of T.E.A.M. Gallery, Tim Chapman, will perform "Watch Me Work-Making Driftwood Sculpture" Saturday, June 30.

The performance starts at 6 p.m. at the gallery, 497 E. Harbor Highway in the Michigan Traders Complex. Swamp Yankees will provide musical accompaniment. For details, call 228-4088.

Dennos exhibits

Traverse City — Three exhibits open Sunday, July 1, at the Dennos Museum Center, 1701 E. Front St.

"Howard Ben Tré: The Lightness of Being-New Sculptures" focuses on works by Tré in cast glass and bronze. It will be on display through Sept. 16.

"Evolution/Revolution: 50 Years of American Studio Glass" marks the 50th anniversary of the studio glass movement in America. It features more than 50 selected works with examples from each decade. It will continue through Sept. 16.

"Katie Pasquini Masopust: Art Quilts" features contemporary art quilts by Masopust. Her exhibit continues through Oct. 7.

The museum is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, until 8 p.m. Thursday; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for children. For details, call 995-1055 or visit dennosmuseum.org.

TV pilot premieres

Frankfort — A TV pilot about Chef Jim Voltz filmed in June 2011 by independent producer Gary Harrison will premiere Monday, July 2, at the Garden Theatre.

The program about cooking, parties and Crystal Lake help bring Voltz's cookbooks to life. It will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available at the Oliver Art Center in Frankfort or Crystal Crate & Cargo in Beulah. Proceeds benefit the Oliver Art Center.

Music at InsideOut

Traverse City — Two performers will take the stage at InsideOut Gallery's Outre Lounge, 229 Garland St.

Grant Peeples will perform Tuesday, July 3, and Blake Elliott will take the stage Saturday, July 7. Both shows are 8-11 p.m. and there is no cover charge; call 929-3254.

Online auction

Central Lake — The Antrim County Dems are holding an online auction that will close with live and silent auctions.

Online bidding is open from noon Sunday, July 1, to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 14. The fundraiser will close with live and silent auctions and a party Tuesday, July 17, at the Blue Pelican on East Torch Lake Road. Bidding and details are available at antrimdems.org.

Hot dog/brat sale

Empire — The Empire Lions Club will be selling hot dogs, bratwurst, chips and cold beverages at the entrance to Empire Beach.

Sale hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, July 4-7. Proceeds benefit Lions Club local community services and activities and international programs.

Pavilions' concerts

Traverse City — The Grand Traverse Pavilions' Concert on the Lawn Series will include 10 performances on Thursdays from July 5 through Sept. 6.

The series opens Thursday, July 5, with a return performance by the Petoskey Steel Drum Band. All concerts start at 7 p.m. on the Grand Lawn at the Pavilions off Elmwood Avenue. Refreshments will be available. For details or a concert schedule, call 932-3027 or email pdeagostino@gtpavilions.com.

Theater workshop

Traverse City — Students ages 10-18 interested in musical theater can register for "Take It From The Top" Broadway Camp.

The four-day musical theatre workshop, taught by working Broadway professionals, meets Aug. 7-10 at the Old Town Playhouse, 148 E. Eighth St., and closes with a recital at the City Opera House.

Historic house open

Eastport — The Wilkinson Homestead Historical Society is opening the Wilkinson House to visitors.

The turn-of-the-century farmhouse will be open from noon to 3 p.m. Sundays, July 1 through Sept. 2. It is located at 5940 M-88.
