Outdoor sketching

Thompsonville — Artist Deborah Crandell will lead outdoor sketching classes at Michigan Legacy Art Park.

Two-hour workshops start at 10 a.m. Thursdays, July 5-26, at the art park on the grounds of Crystal Mountain Resort. The cost is $5 per person plus $3 for materials payable to the instructor. Call 378-2000, ext. 7000.

Authors sign books

Traverse City — Authors Steve Hamilton and Dr. William Decker will sign copies of their books Monday, July 2, at Horizon Books, 243 E. Front St.

Hamilton will sign "Die a Stranger" from noon to 2 p.m. Decker will sign "Northern Michigan Asylum" starting at 4 p.m. Call 946-7290.

Pasty dinner benefit

Frankfort — Benzie Home Health Care will hold a pasty dinner fundraiser on Saturday, July 7.

The meal will be served 4-7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church on James St. The cost is $10.

Single, hot baked pasties can be pre-ordered for $5 each until noon Friday, July 6, by calling 325-0138. Individual frozen pasties also are available for $5 each. No pre-ordering is required. Single pasties can be picked up 4-7 p.m. at the church.

Polish procession

Cedar — A traditional Polish procession of Our Lady of Czestochowa will immediately follow the 11 a.m. Sunday, July 8, Mass at the Cedar Polka Festival.

Pan Franek, leader of the Polka Towners Polka Band, will lead the procession with music on his accordion and children are invited to participate by either wearing a traditional Polish costume, throwing flower petals or carrying ribbons. Call 228-6991 or email 6hughes@centurytel.net.

Women's workshop

Gaylord — An equine-guided empowerment workshop for women will take place 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at Equispirit Healing Horse Farm, 11954 Woodview Trail. The cost is $150. Call (989) 280-8683.

Summer Church

Leland — The Rev. Dr. Carol Bechtel, professor of Old Testament at Hope College, is the guest speaker Sunday, July 8, at Leland Summer Church.

Rally registration

Traverse City — Registration is under way for Bethany Christian Services' Aug. 18 Amazing Rally fundraiser.

Rally teams solve clues and compete in challenges to become the first to reach the final destination. The day closes with a pig roast and silent auction.

The entry fee is $200 for a team of four; $250 for teams of five to six. Proceeds benefit Bethany's foster care and older child adoption programs. Visit amazingrally.com or call 995-0870.

Love INC store

Benzie County — Love In the Name of Christ has opened a resale store and donation drop-off center.

The Love INC store at 1505 Benzie Highway, suite 101, is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. The donation center is located two doors down and is open the same hours. For details, call 882-9640.
