Farce on tap

Benzonia — The Benzie Players will stage Ken Ludwig's farce "The Fox on the Fairway."

The play will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 3-4; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at Mills Community House, 891 U.S. 31. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students at the Benzie County Chamber of Commerce or at the door.

Leelanau landscapes

Leland — Landscape paintings of Leelanau County by Anne Corlett, Royce Deans, Angela Saxon and Lynn Uhlmann will be on exhibit at the Old Art Building 111 S. Main St.

Show hours are 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4; and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, with artist receptions from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Boats on the river

Traverse City — Boats on the Boardwalk will celebrate 25 years on Saturday, Aug. 4.

The display of antique and classic boats will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. along the boardwalk on the Boardman River in downtown Traverse City. There will be nearly 50 classic boats, classic canoes and five "feature" boats displayed by founding members of the Water Wonderland Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society, the show's sponsor.

Program on kayaks

Traverse City — Michael Gray, owner of Uncommon Adventures, will discuss kayaking at noon Monday, Aug. 6, at the Senior Center Network Building, 801 E. Front St. He also will talk about upcoming kayaking lessons and trips.

RR buffs meet

Traverse City — The next meeting of the Railroad Historical Society of Northwest Michigan is Tuesday, Aug. 7.

George Gregory will show a video of Claude Porter discussing his railroad career with the Pere Marquette and Chesapeake & Ohio railroads. The 7 p.m. meeting is at the History Center of Traverse City, 322 Sixth St.

Candidate visits

Frankfort — Michigan Supreme Court candidate Bridget McCormack will visit with area residents at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Grow Benzie facility, M-115.

Church cookout

Traverse City — A community picnic is Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the Old Mission Congregational Church, 18687 Old Mission Road.

The 5:30 p.m. meal will include burgers, bratwurst, side dishes and drinks. Donations are appreciated; 223-4844.

Leland home tour

Leland — The Leland Women's Civic Club will host its Leland Home Tour Wednesday, Aug. 8.

Five homes will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $15 each at Leelanau Books in Leland, at Gallery 22 and At Home in Suttons Bay, at Pennington's in Northport, and at Stewart-Zacks in Traverse City.

Sunset cruise

Bellaire — On Saturday, Aug. 11, Grass River Natural Area will sponsor the first of two sunset cruises.

"Constellation Cruise I" will leave at 9 p.m. from DeWitt Marina, 6509 Crystal Springs Road. The cost is $15 for adults; $7 for children 11 and younger.

Reservations are required. Parents should bring life jackets for their children. Space is limited; call 533-8314.
