Photos on display
Eastport — "Photos of Emil Johnson: Mancelona 1900" will be on display from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Wilkinson House, 5940 M-88.
Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. The exhibit is sponsored by the Wilkinson Homestead Historical Society.
WRC tent sale
Traverse City — The Women's Resource Center Thrift Shop, 3030 U.S. 31, will hold a tent sale 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Aug. 10-12. Everything is priced at $1. Proceeds benefit the agency.
Watercolor show
Northport — Wright Gallery will host a show featuring watercolors by Tim Kennedy, Jim Heiser and Greg Garman.
The show opening is from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10. The gallery is located at 210 Mill St.
Longpre benefit
Mancelona — A spaghetti dinner and silent auction will be held Sunday, Aug. 12, to benefit the Longpres, who lost three family members in a June 29 automobile accident in Indiana.
The meal will be served from noon to 4 p.m. at the Mancelona Fire Hall on Cedar River Road. A $5 donation is suggested. There also will be silent auctions for both adults and children, a bake sale and music. For details or to donate silent auction items, call Sonia Whitney, 633-1449.
Humanists meet
Traverse City — Dr. Robert Brook, associate professor of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Michigan, will talk about the effects of air pollutants on cardiovascular health at the Monday, Aug. 13, Grand Traverse Humanists' meeting.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the History Center of Traverse City, 322 Sixth St. The program is free and open to the public. For details, call 392-1215.
Schoolship sailings
Suttons Bay — Inland Seas Education Association will offer two sailings aboard the schoolship schooner Inland Seas for high school-age young men and women.
The Young Women in Science trip, Aug. 15-16, has four spots available; two scholarship spots for Petoskey area girls and two paid spots open to any girl. The paid spot is $300 for the two days. The trip begins in Charlevoix and ends in Suttons Bay.
The Young Men in Science trip, Aug. 23-24, is free to all participants through scholarships from the Traverse City Optimist Club and the John Schulz Scholarship fund. This trip begins and ends in Suttons Bay.
High school students interested in participating should call the Inland Seas Education Association, 271-3077.
Lobster Fest tickets
Northport — Tickets are available for the Thursday, Aug. 16, Lobster Fest to benefit the Grand Traverse Lighthouse.
The meal will be served in two seatings at 6 and 7:30 p.m. The drawing for a raffle featuring a top prize of a Mackinac Bridge Tower Climb also will be held. Dinner tickets are $60 in advance only. Raffle tickets are $5 each. For details, dinner reservations or raffle tickets, call 386-7195.
Casino Night tickets
Traverse City — Tickets are on sale for Mt. Holiday's Sept. 22 Casino Night fundraiser.

AmeriCorps event
Benzonia — An AmeriCorps team is in the area working with the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy and will host a Community Day Thursday, Aug. 9.
The Summer Service Day will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Benzie Area Christian Neighbors, 2804 Benzie Highway. Food, gently used clothing and small appliance donations will be accepted. There also will be tours of the BACN facility and information about the organization and AmeriCorps.
