Exhibits at Dennos
TRAVERSE CITY — Two new exhibitions open today, March 10, at the Dennos Museum Center, 1410 College Dr.
“Rufus Snoddy: The Wings of Icarus” will showcase new works by the nationally recognized artist who lives and works in the Traverse City area and exhibits throughout the United States and other countries. It features suspended construction paintings inspired by the mythological story of Icarus.
“Larry Cressman: Line Work” features installation drawings that incorporate cane, twigs, paper, graphite, wire and other materials. Cressman is a nationally recognized artist and a professor at the School of Art & Design and Residential College of the University of Michigan.
The exhibits will be shown through June 2. Museum hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Thursday until 8 p.m., and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for chidlren and free for museum members. For details, call 995-1055 or visit www.dennosmuseum.org.
BENZONIA — Ross Richardson will share information about his discovery of the Westmoreland, a ship that went down in Lake Michigan in 1854, at the next Benzonia Academy Lecture.
Richardson’s program starts at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at the Benzie Area Historical Museum, 6941 Traverse Ave. The program is free and open to the public. Donations are encouraged. Call 882-5539 to learn more.
Voice box sessions
CHARLEVOIX — Real People Media will host Voice box sessions with featured guest singer/songwriter Charlie Millard, accompanied by Jerry Millard.
The event will be held on Friday, March 15, at Charlevoix Circle of Arts. The duo will perform original music from Charlie Millard’s debut album “Hattie Jane” and songs from his upcoming CD from 7 to 8 p.m. An open mic session will be held from 8 to 9 p.m. for musicians, poets, public speakers and performance artists of all ages and skill levels. The sessions are videotaped and shared on Charter Communications’ public access channel and on the internet.

‘Annie’ on stage
BENZONIA — Benzie County Central High School will stage the musical “Annie.”
Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 15-16, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, in the high school auditorium, 9300 Homestead road. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. For details, call 882-4497.
WILLIAMSBURG — A St. Paddy’s Day celebration will feature the music of Finnegan with Ruby John.
The concert starts at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at the Williamsburg Theater on M-72 East. It is sponsored by the theater, WNMC and Connemara Concerts.

SUTTONS BAY — Duo Sonidos will perform works by early masters with those by new Latin composers Montsalvatge and Muniz in a concert of chamber music on Wednesday, March 20.
