Visit 'Little Ones'
Traverse City — Little Ones Child Care and Preschool will hold an open house from 9 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. today, Oct. 10.

Wellesley, Mass. — Thursday, Oct. 11, is National Depression Screening Day.
The event, held during Mental Illness Awareness Week, is a national, one-day outreach, education and screening event. It is sponsored by Screening for Mental Health Inc., a nonprofit organization. Lasagna dinner
Traverse City — Old Mission Congregational Church will hold its last church supper of the season tonight, Oct. 10.

Single MOMM group
Traverse City — A self-defense workshop is planned for the Saturday, Oct. 13, meeting of the Single MOMM group.

Youth hold sale
Traverse City — The Immaculate Conception Church Youth Group will hold its "Granny's Attic & Grandpa's Garage" sale to raise money for its 2013 mission trip.
The sale will be open from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, in Centennial Hall at the church, 720 Second St.
Fire prevention
Traverse City — Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department will observe Fire Prevention Week with an open house and community barbecue on Saturday, Oct. 13.
The open house will be hosted 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Station 11, off Veterans Drive, with a side-by-side demonstration of how a fire can become deadly in less that three minutes at 1 p.m.
Guided hike
Benzie County — The Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy will sponsor a hike on the Mary Margaret Johnson trail which winds through the Railroad Point Natural Area forest.

Fund-raising auction
Traverse City — Delta Kappa Gamma, Traverse City Phi Chapter, will hold an auction to raise money for its scholarship fund for graduating seniors pursuing education careers and/or teachers in the classroom.
The doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District Conference Center. There will be silent and bidding auctions and buy-it-now items for immediate purchase. Hors d'oeuvres, desserts and beverages will be available all evening.
NMC workshop
Traverse City — Northwestern Michigan College's Extended Education will hold a professional and personal development workshop.
"Eliminating Self-Defeating Behaviors" will meet from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at the University Center, Dendrinos Drive off Cass Road. The $125 cost includes lunch and a textbook. Six continuing education credits are available.

Interactive mystery
Benzonia — Tickets are on sale for a fund-raising murder mystery event hosted by the Friends of the Benzonia Public Library.
The interactive library mystery, "Murder at Gooseneck Lake," will be hosted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov., 4 at the library in Mills Community House, 891 U.S. 31. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 882-4674 or 383-5204. The requested donation is $20 per person. Tickets will not be available at the door.
