The Father Fred Foundation needs volunteers to help during the Feb. 3-12 Father Fred Frostbite Food Drive.

Help is especially needed during the two weekends of the drive, which will be held in Garfield Centre and Glen's at Chum's Corner, Tom's in Acme, and Oleson's at Three Mile and Hammond roads. Weekday help is needed at lunchtime and from 4 to 6 p.m.

Individuals, families and groups interested in signing up to volunteer or learning more should contact volunteer coordinator Sue Bauer, 947-2055, ext. 34.

The Vasa Festival of Races needs volunteers. Individuals and groups are welcome, as well as skiers (8 km/hour or faster).

Habitat for Humanity ReStore needs volunteers to help customers, load and unload merchandise, and help with deliveries and pickups.

The United Way of Northwest Michigan is looking for applicants for its board of directors.

The board reinforces the agency's mission, offers input, monitors various activities, protects assets, provides financial oversight, ensures integrity, and supports and evaluates the executive director.

Board members are expected to attend board meetings and selected committee meetings and to stay informed between meetings.
