TRAVERSE CITY — Bob Sutherland, founder and owner of Cherry Republic, will be the guest speaker at the Tuesday, Feb. 26, meeting of the Newcomers Club of Grand Traverse.

Indoor folk fest
TRAVERSE CITY — The fifth annual Great Indoor Folk Festival on Sunday, Feb. 24, will feature a new Folk Stage to showcase up-and-coming performers.
Festival hours are noon to 5:30 p.m. at Building 50 in the Village at Grand Traverse Commons. A satellite stage will be at Left Foot Charley Winery, with an open mic stage at Cuppa Joe coffeehouse. Admission is free.
Derby tryouts
TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Roller Derby is looking for skaters, referees, non-skating officials and volunteers to help with the 2013 home bout season.

Third Level benefit
TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Show Chorus will give a concert on Monday, Feb. 25, to benefit Third Level Crisis Intervention Center and the chorus.
The concert, which kicks off Third Level’s Week of Giving, will start at 6 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 222 Cass St. Admission is $10 and tickets are available at Third Level or at the door.
Tax prep help
TRAVERSE CITY — Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan is a host site for free tax preparation through April 12.
Tax preparation is available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by appointment Monday through Friday at Goodwill Industries, 2279 S. Airport Road, for households with an income level under $50,000 and senior citizens. For details or to schedule an appointment, call 995-7728.
