Meal program sites

Traverse City — Traverse City Area Public Schools will sponsor the Summer Food Service Program for Children.

Free meals are available for ages 18 and younger, and individuals up to age 26 enrolled in an educational program for the mentally or physically disabled.

Eastern Elementary School, 1600 Eastern Ave., will serve meals today, June 11, through July 31 with breakfast 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Meals will be served Friday, June 15, through Aug. 3 at Suttons Bay Migrant, 310 Elm St., Suttons Bay, with breakfast 8:15-8:45 a.m., lunch 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and a snack 2:30-3 p.m.

Both sites will be closed Wednesday, July 4.

Commission meets

Traverse City — The Grand Traverse Commission on Aging Board will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at the Commission on Aging, 520 W. Front St. The public is welcome.

Burgers and brats

Traverse City — Old Mission Congregational Church invites the community to a burgers and brats picnic.

The picnic starts at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at the church, 18687 Old Mission Road. Donations will be accepted. Call 223-4844.

Antique Auto Club

Traverse City — The Northwestern Michigan Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America meets Wednesday, June 13.

The group meets at 6 p.m. at Peegeo's, 525 High Lake Road. New members are welcome. Call 947-2599.

AC Paw garage sale

Traverse City — AC Paw will hold a garage sale to support animals in need of homes. The sale will be held 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, June 14-15, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 16, in the alley behind 306 W. 10th St.

Benefit dinner

Traverse City — Traverse Bay United Methodist Church will hold a swiss steak and chicken dinner Thursday, June 14.

The fundraiser will be held 5-6:30 p.m. at the church, 1200 Ramsdell Road. Prices are $8 for adults; $3.50 for ages 4-10; free for ages 3 and younger.

Garden club meets

Frankfort — The Periwinkle Garden Club's next social hour and business meeting is Friday, June 15.

The business meeting starts at noon at Trinity Lutheran Church, 955 James St. A program titled "Edible Flowers and Vines" will follow. The public is welcome. Call 352-4151 to learn more.

Scholarship benefit

Traverse City — A fundraiser will be held to raise money for the NMC John L. Lewis Veterans for Peace Scholarship.

The scholarship was established in 2009 when Tim Keenan dedicated pledges from his Appalachian Trail hike to a scholarship for veterans or children of veterans.

The event will be held 7-10 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the Dennos Museum Center, 1701 E. Front St. There will be a silent auction, music by the West Senior High String Band and the Steve Little Trio and refreshments. Tickets are $20 for adults; $15 for students and seniors at the door or at treatickets.com.

'School of Rock'

Traverse City — SEEDS will sponsor a music camp for students in seventh through 12th grades.

"School of Rock" music camp will meet 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 18-21 at Twin Lakes Camp, 6800 N. Long Lake Road. Sessions will be led by musicians Seth Bernard, Joshua Davis, Rachael Davis, Jeff Haas, Ron Getz and others. The cost is $150. Sale items sought

Traverse City — Child and Family Services is seeking donations for its Saturday, June 23, garage sale.

The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3785 Veterans Drive. Call 631-7664.

Class of '02 reunion

Traverse City — Central High School's class of 2002 is planning a 10-year reunion.
