George Weeks identified several men pictured in the History Center of Traverse City archive photo that appeared Monday, Sept. 10 in the Community section.
Weeks said the photo is a "who's who in 1940s Lansing" when Senator James T. Milliken, former mayor of Traverse City and father of 1969-82 Gov. William G. Milliken, was prominent there. In the picture he is the man in the middle with the white shoes. "To his left, the short bald man is 1943-46 Secretary of State Herman Dingman, former state representative and senator. To Milliken's right, with hands crossed, is 1943-54 State Treasurer D. Hale Brake, former state senator. On the far left is Sen. Don Vander Werp of Fremont, whose district included Manistee County," Weeks said.
Weeks said that not knowing the date of the photo, he could not say what offices those he mentioned held when the picture was taken.
Henry Johnson, of Traverse City, identified Ned Kehoe as the man holding a baby in the History Center of Traverse City archive photo that appeared Monday, Sept. 17 in the Community section.
He said Kehoe worked for the Sinclair Oil Company.
