TRAVERSE CITY -- Eric Rivard scored nine seconds into the game Tuesday as Traverse City West rolled to a 7-0 Division 1 hockey regional win over Manistee at Centre ICE.
West (15-10) will now face the Bay Reps on Thursday.
The Titans wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard Tuesday.
After winning the face-off, P.J. Dienes and Rivard streaked in a 2-on-1 breakaway. Dienes fed Rivard for the goal.
"It was great to get that early goal and get off to a good start," West coach Jeremy Rintala said. "We had a lot of energy coming out of the locker room. There was a lot of excitement with the start of the playoffs.
"That first period was probably our best. We played hard, our intensity was high and we had some good shots on goal."
Vinnie Pietrangelo also tallied in the first period for West. Zach Franklin assisted.
The Titans broke it open in the second period, scoring three times. Dienes scored off an assist from Rivard, Luke Gerding tallied off an assist from Chris Dienes and Nate Allgaier scored off an assist from Carson Omilusik.
The last two goals in the period, along with Franklin's goal early in the third period, came on an extended power play. Gabe Hisem and David Hanrahan drew assists on the Franklin tally.
Cody Stricker wrapped up the scoring with Quentin Phillippo assisting.
Spencer Sonneveldt played the first two periods in goal, registering four saves. Nate Wilson had six saves in the third period. West had 40 shots on goal.

Hunter stier and Joe Zaborowski scored Gaylord's first two goals and then it was all Zaremba to put the Blue Devils up 6-2.
