Traverse City -- Authorities arrested a Michigan State Police sergeant for drunken driving.
Leelanau County Sheriff's deputies arrested Sgt. Monica Bradford, a desk sergeant at the Traverse City post, on Thursday night on M-22, south of the Leelanau Sands Casino in Peshawbestown. She has not been arraigned in court, said Prosecutor Joe Hubbell.
"Our policy is not to comment on cases before the arraignment, but I can say Ms. Bradford was professionally treated by the Leelanau County Sheriff's Department, like any private individual would be, and my office will treat her in the same manner," Hubbell said.
Bradford, of Traverse City, did not ask for special treatment from the arresting officers, he said.
Bradford could not be reached for comment, and neither could Traverse City Post Commander Lt. William Elliott nor Capt. Tim Rod, seventh district commander.
Hubbell said Bradford was not involved in an accident, but a tipster told authorities to be on the lookout for a drunken driver who matched her description.
Sheriff Mike Oltersdorf refused to comment.
"I really don't want to say anything to impact the case," he said.
Hubbell said he thinks Bradford is set to be arraigned Friday. He did not have the arrest report nor court records with him when contacted by the Record-Eagle Saturday, but said he could provide more details Monday.
