Support our veterans

The slogan is "Support Our Veterans" and the Veterans Administration does exactly that. In August, the National Veterans Small Business Conference and Expo was held down in New Orleans. The purpose of the conference was to help veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses to succeed in winning federal contracts and expanding their businesses.

The conference offered valuable assistance to both new and seasoned veteran-owned businesses. More than 100 sessions addressed a range of issues, including marketing, management, financing and business opportunities within the federal government, as well as how to secure loans through the Small Business Administration and its new Express & Pilot Programs, which offer streamlined and expedited loan procedures for certain borrowers such as veterans.

The conference also offered assistance to veterans and veteran business owners on how to become eligible for the VA's Vets First Contracting Program.

For those new to the process, the conference provided a learning session that explains current requirements to become verified, along with lessons learned and tips to help applicants navigate the process.
