Article was offensive
The recent article on pole fitness was distasteful and disturbing. It is bad enough that viewers are being subjected to pornography when flipping through the television channels and just because this new "sport" is on Oprah certainly doesn't make it right.
Pornography is the leading cause of divorce in our country and gives our young people a distorted view of what real love is. The article is not about fitness or well being but propagating this same twisted view of women and is greatly offensive to me.
The Record-Eagle would do better to write positive articles on women and be more considerate of its readers.

End the blockade
I've noticed two common themes among boater's letters. They assert that the there is no conflict with swimmers, because the beaches are seldom full. Granted, but that's because my neighbors and I now must get in our cars to go elsewhere. We'd prefer to walk down to our area beach, but not when the open water is blockaded by a line of boats.
The other thread that connects their arguments is that Traverse City needs their money. I beg to differ. We are pedestrians, not paupers. We, too, make purchases to enhance our day on the bay.
The waters should not be the purview of the select few who can purchase vehicles to enjoy the bay. When boats are parked indefinitely along the shore they prevent equal access to the open waters.
If boats were moored further out and leave us swimmers some room; we could all savor our inland seas.
